Training Terminated

Well, I didn't continue the training routine. Due to some important ranch projects that began on September 11th, I stopped running (biking, and other cross-training, too). Three work days were spent helping the crew putting in new water lines. The rest of the time was used to do ranch maintenance projects. Although, if I had been really motivated, I could have made the time to do the training runs. But I did not ... It may have been just as well though. The marathon was on Sunday, September 20. There was a record rainfall of over 0.80" for Kalispell on that day. Since the marathon was around Whitefish Lake, I expect there may have been close to that amount there, too. And, even though I have run in rain and cold conditions before, it felt pretty good just to have a nice breakfast and read the Sunday papers during the rain event.

(What a wimp, huh?)

Intensive Training Program Continues

Well, I keep giving the crash re-training program a try. I didn't do the planned 3rd six miler or begin the seven milers I planned. Instead, one of the six milers became a joint 2-miler run with my wife. The first 7-miler was also replaced. This with just a 2-mile trail run. But, then I got back onto track again and over the last three days I have put together an 8-10-8 string. Pretty drastic and unconventional training program, even for me, but I'm trying to replace almost 4 weeks of lost training with a quick 20 day program. This is make or break it week, with more 8-milers plus required to keep up the training going. I'll just do one day at a time, and see how the training goes. That will tell me if I'll be ready within the 20-day training period.

Pushing Myself into another Running Streak

Today, I went out for another six-miler. Not extra fast, but it was a good training run. I crashed completely a little later, but that might have been because I skipped the lunch thing and probably ran out of energy. I recovered later and all is well for the new training program!

Labor (to Get Off My Butt) Day

Okay, so, today I broke out of my runner's block and actually jogged out on a six mile run. This is where I left off way back on August 3rd, when I was starting my gear-up training for the September 21st marathon. Now, I need to see if I can start a new training streak and actually feel ready to do it again! For now, I'm off and running!
